We are everywhere indeed

Because of a virus infection now both me and my wife have sinusitis. So we used our health insurance the first time. Going to the ER is freaking expensive! $180 each of us... So we were advised to choose a doctor. So I started to browse who I could choose. As a filter: Language preference. Let's check this out! Punjabi (of course), Chinese (sure!), Hungarian. WOW.

So online he's our doctor already, hope the online way worked :)

He graduated from SOTE in 1972.

Cheques

Or checks. Here...

How do you pay your bill? Yes, the company access your account and deducts what they need. Or you sign up to have recurring charges on your debit/credit card.

No.

You get a mail with your monthly statement. The mail contains a reply envelope. You tear the stub from the invoice you get. You write a check. Put both in the envelope, send it. 21st century, right? :)

And a crazy thing about checks. My DMV registration fee for the car I bought was actually $1 cheaper than what I paid. So I need to get a refund... Yes, I got a check in the mail. It was mailed for 44 cents...

Second alert!

So, you go home from work, it is already dark. You check the mailbox at the entrance of the apartment complex. You find a letter from your bank. The envelope has 'Second Alert!' written on it with big red letters. Next to it, there's another note saying you have 14 days to reply.

What comes first to your mind? 'Oh, shut what have I forgot to tell them?! What copy do they want this time of my passport/visa etc.?!'

And what's inside? They are trying to sell you their latest service... For just $15.99 month you get unlimited access to your credit history, you'll get alerts if someone using your SSN tries to subscribe to services or get a loan, etc.

Personally, I think it is a nasty way of merchandising.

It might be a beginning of a beuatiful friendship

New year, new beginning. That's what's on my mind since yesterday. Since I moved to the US this was the first time I could say that I enjoyed my flight. Maybe Delta was reading my blog (I doubt it)... Anyhoo, yesterday I got upgraded on both my flights to first class and I didn't even miss my connection in Minneapolis.
